We're facing this ongoing situation with a certain lightheartedness. After all, pressure has always been there. Change, even more so. Let's highlight our shared struggle, while celebrating the best work that has emerged from it over the past two years.
We're not just presenting the most prestigious award – we're giving designers, illustrators and their work visibility. There have been many award announcements before, but an "Honored Designer/Illustrator" recognition– which makes you part of a design exhibition in several cities – is one of a kind.
The Joseph Binder Award 2027 brings greater visibility, more prestige and an expanded program. Letting off some steam and celebrating, of course, are included.

What’s new?
The Joseph Binder Award has always been about recognizing outstanding work in design and illustration. In 2027, we're taking that idea further – creating more opportunities for the work, and the people behind it, to be seen, experienced and celebrated.
The Honored Selection goes beyond an award announcement. Before the final ranking is revealed, all Honored designers and illustrators take centre stage at the exhibition opening, giving their work a dedicated moment of recognition. Their work will also be featured in the renowned JBA catalogue and presented as part of a touring exhibition.

The Joseph Binder Days bring the design and illustration community together over two days, 28–29 April, 2027, at MuseumsQuartier Vienna – expanded into a program of exhibition, exchange and celebration.
The exhibition opening starts things off, followed the next day by the symposium, with free admission for every Honored Designer and Honored Illustrator. The Joseph Binder Award Show then reveals the final ranking, before the After Show Get-Together at designforum Wien rounds off the day with food, drinks and music.
