Designers and illustrators are constantly navigating change, expectations and new challenges. In the 17th edition of the Joseph Binder Award, we're taking a lighthearted look at this shared reality – because pressure has always been part of the creative process. Change, even more so.
But pressure can also spark new ideas. So let's celebrate the work that has emerged from the past two years: bold ideas, fresh perspectives and outstanding design and illustration.

Award
The Joseph Binder Award is an international award and showroom with a focus on graphic design and illustration. It was first launched in 1996 by designaustria, the interest organization and knowledge center for design in Austria. It is named after one of the most outstanding graphic designers and illustrators active in Austria, who subsequently also revolutionized visual communication in the United States.
In each category, Joseph Binder Awards in gold, silver and bronze will be awarded in the form of trophies. In addition, the jury may give away up to three distinctions in each of the graphic design and illustration categories.
In order to support independent, conceptual, scientific, and non-commercial activities in the fields of graphic design and illustration, cash prizes (amount tba) will be awarded to up to five outstanding projects in the Design Fiction category.
The Henry Steiner Prize will be awarded to honor a particularly deserving project fostering dialogue between diverse cultural perspectives.
Joseph Binder Days
28 – 29 April, 2027
The Joseph Binder Days kicks off with the exhibition opening, where the Honored Selection takes center stage before the final ranking is revealed. The following day, the symposium brings the community together with lectures, workshops and room for exchange, followed by the Joseph Binder Award Show, where the final ranking will be announced. The two-day program concludes with an After Show Get-Together at designforum Wien.
